Burberry Lip Cover in Tulip Pink - My Idea of nude!

Burberry Lip covers are a really good mix of hydration, pigmentation and creaminess. Burberry Lip Cover in Tulip Pink is another pretty warm peach that I have added to my Burberry Lip Collection.
I have already lauded the amazing qualities of this formula in my previous review of Burberry Lip cover in Antique Rose (reviewed here). Tulip Pink is very similar, but Antique Rose has more of a blue cast to it, making Tulip pink fresher version. I love them both.

Creamy, Comfortable Peach Perfection

This type of colour has almost become my idea of a nude lip on my skin tone. Anything with too much brown, makes me look dull. Once again a winner for me. I would love to hear from you all. Please tell me which Burberry Lip Cover I should covet next!

Burberry Siren Red Collection Part 2 - Gold Pearl Sheer Eyeshadow and PINK Sweet Pea Lip Glow

Onto part 2 of this excellent spring 2013 Collection.
The makeup adorning the models faces are mirroring the beautiful high voltage bags (see here) and capes on the Runway. Pink Sweet Pea Lip Glow (and the 3 other new Lip Glow shades) are bright and look like a vinyl overlay when applied on your lips. I chose Sweet Pea as it was limited. It is a electric pink with a cobalt blue shimmer running through it. The packaging is of course is luxurious. A beautiful Burberry lid tops off this unusual square lipgloss.

The Lip glow is full of ceramides to help plump (not sure) the lips and oils to nourish. This has got to be one of my favourite lip gloss formula's. It has a classic lipstick scent. I do prefer a vanilla scent, but it is not off putting. The gloss has minimal stickiness and my lips feel hydrated while wearing the gloss as well as after it has worn off. Once the gloss wears off, a pink stain is left behind. While highly pigmented the colour is transparent with a subtle shine, so my lips are bright, but still wearable for everyday. I have previously reviewed a similar colour from Becca (here). The Burberry shade is more transparent, less shiny and more for daily use.

You can see the blue shimmer in the sunlight
A gorgeous pigmented sheer pink

Sheer Eyeshadow in Gold Pearl is a light sheer wash of colour with ever so slight matching micro shimmer. If you are light- med in complexion this would run a bit lighter than your skintone, which brightens your eye area, when applied as an all over wash. Many have complained that it is too sheer, but it compliments the punch colours of the light glow cheek colours in Hydrangea Pink (reviewed here) and Coral Pink and the bold lip glows in this collection. the contrast works well together and was planned to perfection.TIP: A great new way of using the fresh glow Burberry primer is to mix it with a darker nude Burberry eyeshadow like Pale Barley and work into the crease area over your freshly applied Gold Pearl to create a bit of depth to the eye area. Gold Pearl swatches chalky, but on the eye is soft and glittery (don't run away, it's a luminous sheer effect).

Just does not capture the iridescence!

This rounds up my picks for Burberry spring 2013.
I would love to know if you picked up any of the Burberry Collection.

Burberry Siren Red collection for Spring/Summer 2013 - Part 1: Light Glow in Hydrangea Pink

I really relished the thought of all the new Spring 2013 collection hitting the stores. On the whole I was pretty underwhelmed, except for few stand out collections. One of my favourites is the Burberry Spring/Summer 2013 campaign. The image below is from the glossy brochure I received with my purchase from Harvey Nichols. Who thought spring could exude such a moody, simple sophistication.
The photographer should be applauded for such a sensual image. The shadows speak volumes.

My picks for the collection were:
  • Hydrangea Pink Light glow for cheeks - a vibrant pink
  • Single eyeshadow in Gold Pearl - sheer cream base with fine sparkle
  • Lip Glow in Sweet Pea - bright pink with blue shimmer - Limited
First off I would like to review Hydrangea Pink Light glow. Burberry blushes are amazing. This one is no exception. Expect a highly pigmented formula that buffs easily. This has been compared to Tom Ford limited Narcissus from their winter collection. Tom Ford is definitely cooler, showing up more blue. Hydrangea Pink is so pigmented and you can easily turn into a hot mess. But, since it is so finely milled you can buff away the excess. An extremely gentle hand is required for a softer effect. This pink is bright in the pan, but actually gives a healthy flush to my cheeks. This shade is pretty much matte. I found the best placement when playing around, was high on the cheek, then blended downward for a diffused effect. This mimics a sexy blushing effect on my light/med complexion. Burberry has stepped out of it's comfort zone with these brighter, more vivid shades.

Lightly scented Burberry checks'

This shade I think is unique enough to warrant a purchase. This light glow blush does not accentuate my pores and glides on smooth. It also has the usual benefits of Wild Rose (hydrating) and is ever so lightly scented. Silicones gives this blush its silky application (so beware those silicone adverse). The colour lasted the entire day, with no patchiness. The other shade in the collection Coral Pink looks pretty too, but I wanted a shade sans any coral leanings.
I could not be more pleased with my purchase. This blush will see much love in the coming months.

Part 2 is coming soon with reviews of Lip Glow in Sweet Pea and Gold Pearl Eyeshadow.

Which Spring 2013 collection caught your attention?

Burberry Lip Cover in Antique Rose - my lips but better you bet!

I was fortunate enough to purchase two Burberry Lip Covers in Antique Rose and Tulip Pink.

I have Burberry's gorgeous Lip Mists and Lip Velvets, but these are my first Lip Covers. Today I will be reviewing Antique Rose. Lip Covers are more opaque than the lip mists and give more coverage, however they still retain their moisturizing qualities. Antique Rose is comfortable on the lips, but wear time is not anything extraordinary. But, usually the finish and feel is more important to me than wear time ( wear time I think is more NB when looking at darker colours as we want them to wear evenly, without patchiness over time). These Lip Covers contain ceramides to deliver a fuller lip look.

L - R Burberry Antique Rose, Nars Dolce Vita

Burberry's Antique Rose is in the category of  ' my lips but better'. It is a sweet warm pink with a slight nude undertone. while it gives more cover than the lip mists, it still imparts a Semi gloss finish. It is similar to Nars Dolce Vita which is slightly sheerer and has more of a red tint to it. This is a perfect everyday lipstick, that can pair with a simple eye -: Burberry Antique Rose eyeshadow washed over the whole lid and diffused into the crease area and smudge under the lower lash line . Use a medium brown pencil like Tom Ford Espresso to softly line the upper lashline for some definition. Loads of mascara, or you could opt for the new trend of brown mascara for a real Burberry-esque look. Finish the look with Earthy Light Glow Blush from Burberry, this will add definition but not colour to your facial structure, to mimic Cara Delavigne in all her glory in the Burberry ad's (if only.....).

For me Burberry can do no wrong when it comes to their lip products. Antique Rose has found a new home in my makeup bag!!

Burberry Lip Mist in Pink Feather - pink blush prettiness

Burberry Lip Mists are so wonderful to wear. Hydrating and with just enough colour to enhance your lips, these beauties are my favourite everyday lipsticks. Burberry Lip Mist in Pink Feather (209) is slightly more pigmented than my other two in Copper and Field Rose. Pink Feather is a girly peach toned pink blush. This is a good alternative to a nude lip as it just adds a hint of colour. My lips feel hydrated and comfortable, and they have a healthy shimmer to them.

This colour is soft enough to wear with a dramatic eye as well as for a everyday natural look. This would look good on fair to medium skin tones and would probably be more of a pink glimmer on darker skin tones. This is a a lovely shade by burberry.

Do you love the sheer texture of Burberry Lip Mist as much as I do?

Burberry Lip Velvet Lipstick in Pink Azalea and Lip Definer in Bright Plum

The problem was I could only choose one Lip Velvet. So many beautiful colours to choose from, but I had to narrow it down to one as I was purchasing other gorgeous Burberry products. I went with the colour worn by Cara Delevigne in the Burberry Lip Velvet advert, with the Lip Liner that was worn beneath it, of course! Behold - Lip Velvet in Pink Azalea. The usual mirrored casing replaced by a matte black version- really sexy and bold just like the texture and colour of this beautiful lipstick.

The colour is a burgundy muted red which when applied is just off matte. What I mean by this is that it has depth to the colour that renders it more alive than a flat matte product. This is I presume why they so aptly called it a lip VELVET. As like the fabric this lip product exudes a touchable quality. It wears comfortably, but matte lipsticks tend to be drier on my lips. My lips feel good upto about 3 hrs (reapplication needed) when there is minimal dryness and wear. There is no silicone slip as with the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, which is also a good matte lip product. The product feels different in texture to the the Nars, but is long-wearing and luxurious.

Burberry Lip Liner is a chic square slim-line pencil. It is quite a dry texture and I cannot say that it has any better qualities than my MAC lip liners. This Bright plum liner will blend with all my lipsticks in the deeper red, plum family, so I am quite happy with it. It pairs superbly with my Pink Azalea Lip Velvet and worn underneath makes it more vampy and deep, as shown in the Burberry ad. This worn with a classic Burberry Trench would be a match made in heaven!

Pink Azalea Lip Velvet, Lip Definer in Bright Plum

Pink Azalea with Bright Plum underneath
Overall, I am still in love with Burberry. Their version of a matte lipstick has all the qualities a top brand should. Saturated colour, excellent texture, modern look, long-wearing and luxe packaging. Burberry Lip Velvet comes in many colours. I would love a few more shades leaning nude, bit I guess they need to hold back and mabye add a later nude collection like they did with the Lip Mists.
I would love to add to my singular Lip Velvet Collection and mabye opt for a brighter colour like Fuschia Pink.

Burberry Lip Velvets Love or Hate them?

Suqqu Blend Colour Eyeshadow in Tsukiakari EX-07

Suqqu is another reason why my love affair with Japanese makeup has reached fever pitch. I decided to invest in my first Suqqu quad and chose the limited Tsukiakari from the Suqqu Fall /Winter 2012 collection. This palette is a lesson in restraint. Highly pigmented, refined, modern, versatile are the words that come to mind when trying to describe this eyeshadow quad. Let's let the picture do the talking.

*Sigh*
Ok, back to business. The Suqqu quad is housed in a sleek black case with Suqqu lasercut into it. Full size mirror for on the go application and 2 mini, double ended applicators - one with sponge tips, the other with brushes. These have varying lengths and shapes for lining and blending. Suqqu brushes are world renown for excellence and these are a little slice of heaven.

The top left shade is an iridescent pastel salmon pink. The top right is a deep taupe that can be blended out to be quite soft. These two colours layer beautifully together creating a new mauve-toned shade. The addition of the cream shadow is new for this palette. The lower bottom left shade is navy with micro glitter in a slightly lighter blue. The bottom right colur is winter white. The white be used on it's own, just with the navy as a liner. All the shades are buttery in texture and as easy as 1-2-3 to blend.

I have done comparison's of the taupe colour below. You can tell in the swatches that the Suqqu colour is more of a deeper, golden taupe with sparse micro glitter. The Burberry is lighter,  matte and has less mauve. Flash back has more of a grey undertone and has the most metallic quality and gorgeous micro glitter. RBR is most similar to Rosewood but with more iridescence.

L-R Suqqu Taupe, Burberry Rosewood, Addiction Flash back,
Rouge Bunny Rouge Solstice Halcyon

Suqqu Blend Colour eyeshades are silicone and amino-acid coated. These ingrediants are meant to increase wear time and help keep your lids healthy. The Suqqu ethos is to enhance you eye and bring out their natural beauty. This quad does this and more. The navy cream shadow gives this particular suqqu palette a moody edginess.
The Navy cream shadow can be used to line your eye or as an all over base to create a super cool lived- in look with the other shades blended over it. I did a daytime winged eyeshadow look, with the navy on the outer corners winged out slightly. The taupe I pressed into the outer corners as well and pulled it back into the centre of the lid. The pink I patted over the centre on the lid and then blended. You can then go back over the navy with a soft touch to add a bit of intensity. I dragged the navy softly under the lower lashline to bring it all together. Suqqu looked great by the end of the day and I detected no fading.

I bought my suqqu quad from Ichibanko.com. The lovely Kelly was very helpful and the shipping was super fast (I added expedited shipping). You do pay more for the palette, but since many high-end brands where I live have hyped up prices, I felt relatively comfortable doing so. Suqqu is sold through limited vendors throughout the world, and only hope that it becomes more accessible. This is a deluxe, beautifully made product and will be in heavy rotation through the coming months. Now onto pick out my next Suqqu quad.............

Which Suqqu quad is your favourite?

All my love for Burberry- Burberry Lip Mist in Field Rose

Burberry was really not on my radar, when it initially came out. Even when I visited London in April, I rushed past the Burberry counter with just a cursory glance. I could kick myself now, as I finally had a good look at the brand when there was not a Burberry counter in site. I hastily made plans for visiting family to play courier and bring me my first mini Burberry haul - a Lip mist , a Light Glow Natural Blush and one precious Sheer Luminius pressed powder for eyes in Rosewood. Burberry is a hit! Today I will review the Burberry Lip Mist in Field Rose # 213 which was part of the Iconic Nude Collection, but will also be part of their permanent lineup. A lot has been written about the gorgeous packaging. Well let me tell you it is all true - a Burberry check mirrored case with magnetic closure - elegant, chic, very Burberry.

The lipstick also has the Burberry pattern etched onto the sides. The case also doubles as a mini mirror for quick application. The lipstick is extremely hydrating and feather-like to wear as it is packed with moisturizing ingredients including Wild Rose extract which helps protect your lips too.
This Lip Mist is described as giving a subtle hint of colour while adding sheer luminosity. This is a spot on description. While Field Rose on the surface may seem like a 'blah' nude colour, it really has dimension and your lips appear draped in a soft luminous beige pink with subtle irradescence. It is a perfect everyday shade that is girly and sophisticated.

These Lip Mists will not be know for there wear time, but that is not a pre-requisite for sheer lipsticks in my opinion (mabye for stains, reds and matte textures). But since I love applying this balm-like lip colour I do not mind that it does not linger. They are similar the the Chanel Coco Shines in texture, but his beauty wins by a hair.

Burberry have recently launched their Lip Velvet Longwear Lipstick that after trying these few Burberry products, I am sure are sublime - I cannot wait to try them, especially Fuschia Pink (#309).

I would love to hear what your favourite Burberry products are?
