Mac Archie Girls Lipglass in Mall Madness :Team Betty all the way!

The latest colour collection from Mac conjures up my years reading my Archie comics. I was always team Betty as she was more my kinda gal! This collection had both new and limited shades housed in the super cute Betty OR Veronica packaging. I only purchased one gloss, as the rest were not stand out enough in shades to warrant more. I felt a little disloyal choosing a Veronica colour, but I really loved this warm rose shade. It has micro shimmer which adds further dimension.

The swatch below gives a true reflection of the colour you get on your lips. The sunlight did wash the colour out a bit in the photograph on my lips. This is a great everyday shade which has a bit more colour with out being to strong. MAC glosses are extremely affordable and comfortable to wear. Lightly scented with vanilla, they are slightly tacky. This shade would work on all skin tones and over many lipsticks. I love it alone.

This collection made me want to put on a cheerleaders outfit and shout for Riverdale High! Did you guys love this MAC x Archie collaboration?

MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Lady At Play

Mac just released their new lipstick this spring. While most brands have issued out sheer juicy formula's, Mac went for dense satin finish. They used new packaging. Still black, but with strange shaped lid in a matte finish. I do prefer their usual packaging, as this is not sleek, but just kinda weird. Form follows function- not here!

Packaging aside, this is a wonderful lipstick. This is their best most luxurious formula to date. It has 77-Mineral Moist Complex for moisture with impact. Non-drying and my lips actually feel hydrated. It comes in 12 shades and I tried to purchase a watermelon shade - Lady at Play. Not to sure it was what I was looking for. Leaning a bit to orange for my complexion, but I cannot fault the formula. Style Surge was a softer version of Lady at play and maybe more my style. However, if I can use this more as a stain I think it could work quite well. Keep your makeup simple with a simple sheer was with Burberry Gold Pearl (reviewed here). Line the eye with a black gel liner and flick up slightly at the corners. A soft neutral cheek is best (maybe RMK creamy sheer powder cheek reviewed here) would be perfect to balance this bold lip.

Do you love the new sheer trend in lipstick or this new Satin Mineralize Rich lipstick by Mac?
Nars has is just set to launch their new Satin Lip Pencils that look similar texture to these Mac one's.
I cannot wait to try them out!

Hot Red Valentine Lips - My top 5 Red lipsticks

Valentine's day calls for a hot Red Lip. I have chosen my top picks which comes in a sheer texture if your are celebrating in the Southern hemisphere and it is hot. A softer red sheen with flirty summer dresses makes for a pretty combination. My other picks are more dramatic and matte. So if your are on the other side of the globe, bundled up beside a fire these, velvet finishes are sure to please.
Burberry, Dior, Nars, Mac, Tom Ford

Tom Ford in Narcotic Rouge - red with pink tone
Mac in Ruby Woo - red with orange tone
Nars in Red Lizard - red with bue- more creamy

Burberry Lip Mist in Rosy Red #205 - blue red and glossy
Dior Addict in New Look # 745 red orange iridescence

Happy Valentines day - here's a virtual chocolate heart to all of you - xxx

MAC Julie Verhoeven All Over Brush Set

I was really excited when one of our larger MAC stores got in some of the Illustrated collection (quite surprising the stand alone stores did not get these in). They did not receive the full collection, but I did manage to scoop up one of the Julie Verhoeven All Over Brush sets. I think Nordtstrom's had these exclusively for their anniversary sale and then by some miracle we seemed to have gotten them?

There are a number of reasons why I was thrilled with my purchase. The box itself is a collector's piece. Beautiful grained paper with the beautiful Picasso-esque design emblazoned on it. I am still considering what I can use it for as I loathe to throw it away. The brushes are encased in a canvas case which has the same bright modern print on it. It is a perfect size to pop into your bag for travel. It is held closed by a blue tie. The inside is bright and bold. There is a brush protector flap to protect this concise, well-edited collection of brushes.
There are 5 brushes, perfect for achieving the perfect eye and check. The other brush set was for the face , but I am loving my Real Techniques brushes for buffing in my foundation - or fingers for on-the-go perfection. The brushes in the set are:
129E - For powder or blush
219E - Large fluff brush
224SE - Tapered blending brush (also good for applying creamy concealer under the eye)
227SE - Pencil brush
266SE - Flat angled brush

This might be old news for some, but for those where it has just recently been launched go check it out.
This versatile brush set is useful and fun all rolled into a colourful makeup roll.

MAC Cremesheen in Pink Pearl Pop

I had a voucher from MAC, so I chose a cremesheen from their recent Cremesheen and Pearl collection. The colour I chose is perfect for summer as it is bright and fun. Pink Pearl Pop is a sheer yet creamy candy pink with a soft sparkle. The cremesheen formula is one of the more comfortable to wear from MAC, but there is a lingering stickiness that I am not too fond of. I am NARS, Burberry and Giorgio Armani lipstick fan. This colour is cheerful, but probably one I will not reach for often. My skin will need to be picture perfect to wear this shade well. I think as our summer wears on and my skin is more tanned it will work better. Strangely, I think if you are fairly pale this will be work well. The lipglosses for this collection are worth a look as they are sparkly and the colours will not read as bright as the lipsticks.

I am patiently waiting for The Face and Body collection. It has yet to launch here. I have earmarked a Pro-sculpting cream for my make-up bag. Bring it on!

Did any of you buy from the Cremesheen and Pearl Collection?

MAC Satin Lipstick in Rebel

I have a secret obsession with bright coloured lipsticks. The bold punch on colour makes me feel happy and slightly more confidant than I really am. When I saw Rebel from the recent Mac collection (though it is a permanent shade) I had to have it. It is a gorgeous plum shade that is bright yet deep. It has a satin texture, so it is slightly matte but still creamy. This colour fades gradually, but my lips are stained from it, so there is no patchiness or lip colour peeping through, like I get from Mac's Ruby Woo.

The satin lipstick's from Mac are comfortable to wear. They are creamy and opaque. This hue has a beautiful intensity. I think it works perfectly without a lip liner.

I wore Rebel with a light apricot pink shadow over my lids and loads of mascara. Nars Deep Throat on my cheeks.

This is not for wallflower's and you will definitely get noticed sporting this shade. But, if it is a pop of colour you are after , then Rebel is for you.

What is your go to bold lip colour?

Tips
Apply Dewy glow to top of cheeks, just below brow bone
and on cupid's bow (portion just below nose where lip curve's)

This Look is about a soft focus romantic look that emphasizes the eyes.  The Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow adds a soft luminosity to the skin, elongates our cheekbones, arches our brows and makes our lips appear fuller and definitely kissable. Half Lashes add a hint of drama, so we can demurely look through them while gazing into our beau's eyes. Boy from Chanel is a petal pink which contrast's  well with the strong charcoal of the eye. When applying the charcoal to the outer corner, work your bush inwards in the crease. Remember to blend well. Liner both the upper and lower lash line and smudge with a suitable brush. I have a picture below of suitable dupes for the Nars Eyeshadow
